† Two Crosses † opening night

May 15, 2008 by advicetosinkinslowly

Daryl Waller’s solo show opens tonight at The GoldFish Gallery in Penzance. Two Crosses is Daryl’s fifth solo exhibition, and his second in Cornwall.

The exhibition will feature new paintings, drawings, video, sculpture and performance.

The performance will span the first two weeks of the exhibition and will involve the artist painting in a cage in the gallery dressed as an ape-man.

A simple form (available here) may be filled out to help the ape-man to create artwork, 50 pieces will be selected and made into a limited edition book.

For those of you who are unable to make it to Cornwall, the Ape-man performance, which begins tonight, will be streamed live on the internet throughout the event on Daryl’s website and facebook (or click the screen-grab below).

‘Other artworks to be exhibited in Two Crosses are the result of research, thoughts and ideas over a three year period, however all work has been made in late 2007 and early 2008. Selected subject matter in the exhibition includes; using fear to feel alive, civilisation - visions of apocalypse, millennium and utopia, time travel and the connection between contemporary art and religion.’

Update: you can see a selection of the work in the exhibition here.

Postcard pack is here!

May 10, 2008 by advicetosinkinslowly

The postcard pack is now available from the advice to sink in slowly shop :)

I will post the names of stockists selling the pack as soon as they are confirmed.

It’s a wonderful feeling to flick through the pack and be surprised by the designs. They work well as postcards and holding them close to see the extra details makes them feel even more intimate.

Robert did a fantastic job on the front and inside covers. I particularly love how the type on the inside covers sinks into the off-white texture of the creamback stock.

Thank you to all involved and I’m very sorry for the long wait! You can see more photos of the pack and the full range of contents here.

The design comes from his doodle pad which sat on his desk for the duration of the POST 3 job.
